Dr. Laura Benoit earned her Bachelor of Arts in Biology from Concordia College in Moorhead, MN in 2018. She then went on to earn her Doctorate of Optometry from Pacific University College of Optometry in Forest Grove, OR in 2022. She is a current member of the American Optometric Association, North Dakota Optometric Association, and Greater Grand Forks Young Professionals.
Dr. Benoit’s clinical interests include dry eye, contact lenses, ocular disease, glaucoma management, and diabetic exams. During her last year of optometric education, she completed rotations in comprehensive primary eye care, ocular disease, and surgical management working alongside various specialized ophthalmologists.
Dr. Benoit was raised in Thompson, ND and is pleased to be back to provide thorough eye care in the Red River Valley. In her free time, Dr. Benoit enjoys being at the lake, painting, listening to podcasts, spin classes, and spending time with her dog, Tommy.
Dr. Jennifer Schumacher earned her Doctor of Optometry degree in 2011 from Pacific University in Oregon, graduating with distinction. Prior to that, she attended high school in Brainerd, Minnesota and attended Concordia College in Moorhead, earning a Bachelor of Arts degree in biology. Dr. Schumacher is a current member of the American Optometric Association and the North Dakota Optometric Association. She has a wide variety of experience in ocular disease, contact lenses, and pediatric vision, and enjoys caring for patients of all ages. Dr. Schumacher and her husband, Brian, have two children, Collins and Griffin. They are happy to call Grand Forks 'home' and love being close to their family here. They enjoy all the community has to offer and are members of Calvary Lutheran Church. In her free time, Dr. Schumacher enjoys golfing, spending time at the lake, baking, and playing with her kids. Dr. Schumacher is currently accepting new patients.
Dr. Jason Schaff has been practicing at Valley Vision Clinic since graduating with distinction from Pacific University College of Optometry in 2008. He has special interest in ocular disease, children’s vision and contact lenses. As an advocate for each patient, Dr. Schaff strives to develop a personalized eye care plan that will enhance his patients’ lives. He is committed to providing comprehensive eye care to patients of all ages using the latest technology in contact lenses and diagnostic testing. Dr. Schaff is currently accepting new patients.
Dr. David Biberdorf graduated with honors from the Southern California College of Optometry and has been practicing in Grand Forks since 1988. Dr. Biberdorf is a board certified Fellow in the College of Optometrists in Vision Development and has sub-specialized in the treatment of children with learning-related vision problems, strabismus and amblyopia for over twenty years. In addition to his clinical practice, Dr. Biberdorf is actively engaged in research on vision, attention and reading at the University of North Dakota.
Dr. Avery Jones graduated with high honors from the Michigan College of Optometry at Ferris State University in 1981. He began active practice at Grand Forks AFB Hospital shortly thereafter. Dr. Jones has been active in private practice in Grand Forks since 1985. He is a past president of the North Dakota Optometric Association and is currently a member of the North Dakota Optometric Association, American Optometric Association, and the Grand Forks Lions Club. Dr. Jones enjoys participation in the education of new clinicians; most currently with the Physician Assistant and Nurse Practitioner programs at the University of North Dakota.
Dr. David Solseng, a Grand Forks native, is a 1994 graduate of University of North Dakota and received his doctorate at Illinois College of Optometry in 1998. He lives and practices in Ada, Minnesota. Dr. Solseng enjoys practicing in a rural setting and dealing with all aspects of his patients’ vision and health. He and his wife Genise have 3 children and are involved in several organizations throughout the community. He enjoys spending time outdoors and has a passion for Sioux hockey.
Dr. Kristin Atwood is a 2018 graduate of the University of Missouri-St. Louis College of Optometry. She is a native of Borup, MN and earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in Biology from Concordia College in Moorhead MN. Dr. Atwood is a member of the American Optometric Association as well as the Minnesota and North Dakota Optometric Associations. She enjoys caring for patients of all ages and has a special interest in pediatrics, ocular disease, and contact lenses. “My approach to patient care is treating each of my patients like they are family. I strive for each of my patients to leave an appointment feeling like they were listened to and cared for as an individual.” Her family recently moved to the Grafton area from Jamestown ND where Dr. Atwood practiced for several years. She is excited to be closer to family in Grafton and looking forward to becoming involved in Hallock and the surrounding communities. Dr. Atwood and her husband Bill have two young children Sophie and Ellie. In her free time, she enjoys spending time at the lake, reading, gardening, and playing with her girls. Dr. Atwood is currently accepting new patients and looks forward to meeting you!
