Preventative Eye Care

It is important to make eye exams a part of your families yearly health routine.  Just like a visit to your dentist or family physician, a yearly eye check can help prevent more serious problems from affecting your family.  If you have a family member that has an eye disease previously; remember early detection is key to preventing vision loss.  A dilated eye health exam is the best way to screen for any potential visual or health related problems.
Don’t Smoke! Smoking has been shown to increase the incidence of many eye diseases including dry eyes, macular degeneration and cataracts.
Remember 20/20.  For every 20 minutes of reading or computer work, take 20 seconds to look across the room or out the window.  Excessive time spent without a break can attribute to eye strain, dry eyes, and headaches.
Antioxidants.  Antioxidants help to slow some disease processes in the eye and body.  Eat foods rich in antioxidants such green leafy vegetables, bright colored fruits, and fish.
