Doctors & Staff

Dr. Jason Schaff has been practicing at Valley Vision Clinic since graduating with distinction from Pacific University College of Optometry in 2008.  He has special interest in ocular disease, children’s vision and contact lenses. As an advocate for each patient, Dr. Schaff strives to develop a personalized eye care plan that will enhance his patients’ lives.   He is committed to providing comprehensive eye care to patients of all ages using the latest technology in contact lenses and diagnostic testing.  Dr. Schaff is currently accepting new patients.


Jason Schaff, O.D.

Dr. David Biberdorf graduated with honors from the Southern California College of Optometry and has been practicing in Grand Forks since 1988.  Dr. Biberdorf is a board certified Fellow in the College of Optometrists in Vision Development and has sub-specialized in the treatment of children with learning-related vision problems, strabismus and amblyopia for over twenty years.  In addition to his clinical practice, Dr. Biberdorf is actively engaged in research on vision, attention and reading at the University of North Dakota.


David Biberdorf, O.D., C.O.V.D

Dr. Avery Jones graduated with high honors from the Michigan College of Optometry at Ferris State University in 1981.  He began active practice at Grand Forks AFB Hospital shortly thereafter.  Dr. Jones has been active in private practice in Grand Forks since 1985.  He is a past president of the North Dakota Optometric Association and is currently a member of the North Dakota Optometric Association, American Optometric Association, and the Grand Forks Lions Club.  Dr. Jones enjoys participation in the education of new clinicians; most currently with the Physician Assistant and Nurse Practitioner programs at the University of North Dakota.


Avery Jones, O.D.

Dr. Lyle A. Hall is a graduate of UND and received his doctorate at the Southern California College of Optometry. His wife, Susan, graduated with a degree in nursing from UND and a masters degree from Loma Linda University. The Hall’s have six children. Dr. Hall has served as President of the ND Optometric Association and the ND Board of Optometry, the Grand Forks Public School Board , the City of Grand Forks Planning and Zoning Commission and as a member of the Grand Forks Lions Club, and the Walle Township Zoning Committee. Dr. Hall has a special interest in contact lenses and the treatment of glaucoma.


Lyle Hall, O.D.

Dr. David Solseng, a Grand Forks native, is a 1994 graduate of University of North Dakota and received his doctorate at Illinois College of Optometry in 1998.  He lives and practices in Ada, Minnesota.  Dr. Solseng enjoys practicing in a rural setting and dealing with all aspects of his patients’ vision and health. He and his wife Genise have 3 children and are involved in several organizations throughout the community. He enjoys spending time outdoors and has a passion for Sioux hockey.

Dr. Michael Emmerich was born in Grand Forks and grew up in Carrington, North Dakota. He attended the University of North Dakota and graduated from the Illinois College of Optometry. In the past, he has served ten years concurrently on the North Dakota State Board of Optometry. He also served on the Board of Blue Cross and Blue Shield North Dakota Vision Services for twenty years. Dr. Emmerich enjoys playing golf and reading autobiographies.


Michael Emmerich, O.D.

Gregory Otto was born in St. Paul , MN while his father was a student at the University of Minnesota.  He grew up and attended school in Marshall, MN.  Dr. Otto graduated from Southwest Minnesota University.  While in high school and college, he competed in athletics.  He earned his doctorate from Illinois College of Optometry as an honor student.  From Chicago, he came to Valley Vision Clinic.  He was active in Grand Forks Jaycees until aging out of the club.  He has been a member of the Grand Forks Optimist club since.  Dr. Otto and his wife Wendy have three children and five grandchildren.  He enjoys hunting and fishing.
